About Me
"Some Imagination, Huh?!"
From as far back as she can remember, Katie has always been living in a world of her own creation. Amongst her friends and family, she was always acting out grand stories and adventures, and loved to dance and sing around her living room. Katie was greatly inspired by the creative style of Walt Disney- particularly the Academy Award-Winning, Mary Poppins, which she watched everyday until she wore out the VHS tape. From age 8, she began taking piano lessons, and was first-chair clarinet in her school band, as well as all-state band at age 13.
She turned in her clarinet for choir robes at age 14, and fell in love with singing. Katie took part in her school's auditioned jazz and show choirs- traveling out of state to compete in national competitions on multiple occasions. It wasn't until her choir directer persuaded her to audition for the school musical, that Katie ever acted on-stage. And- from the moment she set foot on stage for her first audition- she knew she'd found her home. She fell in love with the communal exchanges of truth and love she found there, and knew this was the kind of creative space she'd been in search of to discover magic in since she was just that little girl dancing around the house.
After graduating, Katie went to Western Washington University for two years to study Theatre, then transferred to Central Washington University to pursue her BFA in Musical Theatre. She is elated to graduate in 2019, and go out into the world in search of spaces to create art in, and people to tell stories with.
Katie is eternally grateful for the love and support of her parents, sister Madison, friends, and mentors all along the way. When she is not on stage, Katie enjoys playing piano, painting, doing yoga, and spending quality time with her dog, Sadie. Katie a strong believer in self-love, respect for others, and pursuing little happinesses each day. It is through a lens of self-love and a positive outlook that Katie believes we can experience magic everyday.
